Klawock Cooperative Association has the capability to disinfect any commercial, clinical, residential places on Prince of Wales Island. We have successfully deployed our equipment to disinfect many places. This is something our people need to protect them from all aspects of bacteria’s, viruses, molds & mildews, and many other pathogens. Our goal is to reach out to all commercial businesses, e.g. buses, airlines, clinics, and residential homes to disinfect their premises of any pathogens that may cause an increase of transmissibility. This is a brief history of our equipment.

SteraMist™ is a decontamination system created by TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc. It’s designed to clean and sanitize all types of buildings in the most effective way possible without creating any kind of downtime. SteraMist disinfection and decontamination is an EPA-registered solution and equipment combination fogger featuring a 7.8% hydrogen peroxide sole active ingredient. SteraMist brings you unparalleled material compatibility with a wide variety of use sites. The use of ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP) technology creates natural, powerful particles that spread throughout large and small areas, reaching the toughest spots and goes far beyond manual cleaning and other disinfection methods.


Patented Binary Ionization Technology (BIT) activates and ionizes a 7.8% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) sole active ingredient-based solution into a fine mist/fog known as ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP). iHP contains a high concentration of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), consisting mostly of hydroxyl radicals (•OH) is the killing agent. •OH are one of the most powerful oxidizing agents in nature, and during TOMI’s iHP process, kills bacteria and fungal spores and inactivates viral cells by destroying their proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. This leads to the cellular disruption and/or dysfunction allowing for the quick decontamination of targeted areas, objects and large spaces. SteraMist kills on contact!


As an invention funded by a grant provided by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP) was developed as a direct response to weaponized anthrax attacks.

After the attacks, iHP began to establish itself in a more mainstream capacity with registration as a Hospital-Healthcare, general, and multiple-use disinfectant with exceptional efficacy against bacteria, bacterial spores, viruses, mold spores, and many other pathogens.

With iHP achievable solely through Binary Ionization Technology (BIT), the technology became the first combination of both solution and technology to be registered by the EPA as a Hospital-Healthcare and general-use disinfectant.

Binary Ionization Technology utilizes a solution comprised of 7.8% hydrogen peroxide as a sole active ingredient, naturally enhanced by a cold plasma arc. As a result, SteraMist application features superior material compatibility with a quick-acting disinfection and decontamination.


Independent testing had proven six-log (99.9999%) efficacy against the gold standard for sterilization, Geobacillus stearothermophilus and Bacillus atrophaeus - a notoriously difficult to kill spore. With this development, further EPA testing had placed it on the following Lists:

As an EPA-registered solution and technology combination, our BIT solution is subject to multiple efficacy tests and has been tested to comply with the highest Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards at independent laboratories. TOMI continues updating its BIT label to ensure that we meet and exceed EPA and customer standards for quality and results.

SteraMist has successfully been implemented in: BSL Containment. The four biosafety levels are BSL-1, BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4, with BSL-4 being the highest (maximum) level of containment. There are no toxic chemicals that are highly corrosive and hazardous present in SteraMist, allowing for rapid aeration after use, and increasing storage length. No mix and ready to use solution, there is no intensive preparation required.

Currently, SteraMist competitors are stuck using equipment that produces a micron size ranging up to 100 or higher. SteraMist can achieve a micron size as small as 0.03 which allows it to disinfect incredibly hard-to-reach spaces and areas, ensuring a higher efficacy against pathogens, while also eliminating the need to remove various equipment from a space.

SteraMist can fully disinfect a room without the need to remove sensitive electronics, other devices, and furniture. Although some competitors like electrostatic sprayers and chlorine dioxide are not compatible with electronics, SteraMist is compatible with electronics which eliminates the need to remove sensitive equipment from an area designated for disinfection. SteraMist’s current contact time is defined as “a minimum contact time of 7 minutes for the surface to dry.

Coronavirus and COVID-19 have brought disinfection into the global perspective. The SteraMist brand of products continues to provide all-encompassing disinfection to combat coronavirus as well as the highest resistant pathogens known to mankind.

Omicron survives longer on plastic surfaces and skin

Experts already know that Omicron is the most transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variant, but a new study has found that it survives longer than any previous variant on plastic surfaces and skin. Scientists do not know whether this persistence leads to more infections. According to the new study, Omicron lasts on plastic for nearly 200 hours and on skin for about 21 hours. The Omicron variant survives longer on plastic surfaces and skin than other variants, increasing the likelihood of it spreading through touch.
